The Town Halls

The town hall is the government body of the municipality, which is the basic local entity of the State's territorial organisation.

All their powers are focused to render proximity services to the residents, like security services, traffic arrangement, civil protection, fire extinction, public transport, markets...

The town hall is composed of the mayor and the councillors, that are elected by the citizens that also elect the mayor.

In municipalities of less than 100 inhabitants, the government corresponds to the open Town hall, where all the citizens take part and they elect the mayor.

The basic regulation is in the   Act 7/1985, 2nd April, that regulates the local Regime .
